3 Mindfulness Habits Busy Working Moms Need to Develop
Are you a working mom who’s always struggling to keep and maintain a healthy, calm and mindful lifestyle? Do you find it difficult to balance between work and family? Do you feel like you’re forever torn between deadlines, housework, homework, groceries, cooking and laundry?
Well, here’s some good news for you; below are 3 simple tips, that you need to turn into daily habits so your life becomes more mindful and much more peaceful.
1. Morning Deep Breathing
Every morning, give yourself more time to stay in bed. Don’t leave your bed as soon as you open your eyes. Instead, stay in your bed for 5-10 minutes, feel your body pressure on your bed, pay attention to the sounds around you, and then start your daily deep breathing.
This slow deep and long breathing can help you start your day in a more calm way and will help you function better.
Breathe in for a count of 6, hold your breath for a count of 2, and then exhale for a count of 6. Repeat 5 times.
2. Bring Mindfulness to Your Daily Routine
Remind yourself to always pay attention to the very little details around you. You’ll start experiencing life in a much better and different way. You’ll start noticing things that you’ve been taking for granted for so long.
While walking down the streets, for instance, pay attention to the trees and their beautiful serene green colors. Imagine that your eyes are absorbing this green light and feel it nurturing your soul and body.
Also, while showering, pay attention to the warmth of the water, feel the water on your body and imagine that this water is washing away your worries. Feel the water on your body as it cleans and purifies your body.
Whilst drinking water, feel the sensations created by the water inside your body. Think of your body as a plant that needs this water, in order to stay alive and grow more beautiful and fruitful. Remember to always keep yourself hydrated, it will boost your energy and perfects your skin and hair as well.
3. Be Present and Give Your Undivided Attention!
You’ll be surprised, how this habit will allow you to discover new things about your own self, your children, your husband and your loved ones.
You probably don’t have much time to focus on the present moment; you’re always worried about their school grades, or thinking about tomorrow’s lunch, right?
Well, train your mind to always be focused on the now, be present with your children and family, and give them your undivided attention. You can train your mind through this very simple exercise; take 5-10 minutes a day, sit down in a comfortable position, close your eyes and start focusing your attention and mind on your breath, notice the sensations created by the air as you breathe in and out.
Remind yourself, that this air you breathe is what links you with the present moment. If thoughts start to fill up your mind, bring your attention back to your breath.
Next time you sit with your family, pay attention to what they have to say or share with you. Postpone your thoughts about tomorrow’s lunch, and be present with them and enjoy their company! I’m sure you’ll learn new things about them!
