THE IMPORTANCE OF HEALTHY EATING

During the first year of a child's life, parents are extremely concerned about food, but as he gets older and begins school, education and extra-curricular activities take a front seat while the quality of food takes a back seat. The result is picky eaters, milk haters, or the development of habits such as leaving lunch untouched and skipping meals. In order to overcome these eating dilemmas, parents resort to convenience foods, or use food as a bribe or punishment, and finally nutrition is provided in the form of multivitamin supplements.

MAKE BREAKFAST A PRIORITY!

Breakfast, the first meal of the day, is eaten after 10 to 12 hours of fasting. It's considered one of the most important meals of the day because just as you can't drive a car without fuel, you can't expect your body to function without food. The brain is affected the most by 10 to 12 hours of not eating because blood sugar levels fall and no fuel reaches this vital organ. To cope, the body tries to conserve energy stores by releasing stress hormones and as a result the child becomes inactive, has poor concentration, and craves foods high in sugar for the rest of the day. If excess sugar is consumed, his erratic behavior may just get worse.
