First Aid for Your Child: Fever


 


A fever may be the result of a viral or bacterial infection. It can also be the sign of an inflammatory problem. For young babies, even a slightly elevated temperature may indicate a serious infection.


 


Symptoms A raised temperature of more than  38.5C, which means the body is fighting the infection Shivering and feeling cold or sweating  and feeling hot


 


What to Do


 


•Remove most of your child’s clothes


 


•Give him a lukewarm water bath or use  towels all over the body


 


•Give him cool drinks
